double crochet decrease - dc dec

Double crochet decrease is an intermediate-level stitch used to decrease the number of stitches in your crochet fabric. It’s commonly used for shaping or creating more intricate patterns.

  • Begin with a slip knot on your hook.
  • Yarn over and insert the hook into the specified stitch.
  • Yarn over and draw up a loop.
  • Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook.
  • Without completing the double crochet, yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch.
  • Yarn over and draw up a loop.
  • Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook.
  • Yarn over and pull through all three loops on the hook.
  • Repeat steps 2-8 across the row.
  • At the end of the row, chain two (this counts as the first double crochet of the next row) and turn your work.
